My Exhibition Contrabutions

For our Children in Need exhibition we shot several pictures of us in costume, my main job in the exhibition was to help with the showing of the pictures on the exhibition boards.

First we were shown how the studio was going to be set up, with an introduction to lighting and taking pictures (Still and moving).

We were then given the oppertunity to take pictures... I shot Jay, It was a Mid-shot.
After the pictures were printed we stuck them to a board and put them on display in the front of the college.

World Upside Down

For world upside down photography we first studied Rene Magritte's Ceci n'est pas une pipe, and how images we see represent objects or meanings, like signs or symbols and are not the real object. so when we see an image it is a image of something, not that is something.

For my pictures i chose to capture abstract images, for my first image I located a partially build pergola, i took a close up shot, capturing the whole object, through metal bars as you can see on the outside of the pictures. i have also captured the building materials in the image which are covered by a blue sheet.

My second image was a car parking ticket machine, i captured it in the centre of the image and with the instruction on the right.

For my third image i chose to capture the college tower block, literally upside down. It makes the whole image completely abstract and makes you focus on the images in the top half of the image, and makes you strain to read "NO PARKING DELIVERIES ONLY" which has cars parked over it.

Images In Reverse Order.

Decisive Moments

For my decisive moment photography we first looked at three famous decisive moment photographers; Robert Capa, Tony Vaccaro & Henri Cartier Bresson and their works. what made their shots great was that whatever was in the shot could only be shot once: E.g Death of a Loyalist Militiaman. Whatever was in the image was animated and was in the perfect position for a second.

My shots needed to be somewhere that had lots of energy and motion, so I chose to go to Crawley Skate Park. I asked several skaters if I could capture them and they said yes.

I felt like I needed shots of three different skating stances; the first a Drop in, with the board's nose in the air i felt that this shot had a great effect of decisiveness with great natural light.

The second I chose to show a stall, a gymnast plant is a trick that can only last a second so capturing it at optimal height is very difficult. The skater is dead centre of the picture with great natural light.

The third picture had to be an air shot. I chose to capture my actor midair, I had to be quick with my shot before gravity took effect.

Portaiture

For my portrait pictures I was asked to capture pictures in portrait format, I first looked at some other portraits; then i went out with Ethan and Kristopher and they we took some portraits.

I thought that the movement in both of the pictures adds dramatic effect and makes them eyecatching, the lighting behing "Frogman" makes my front darker. The light from above in "Walkway" makes the picture have a shine and is very nice.

Photography. Thursday 1st Oct. 09

Photography. Today was our first day practical with a camera, we first leaned the use of the buttons on the camera, we then discussed aperture & shutter speed.

We got into groups, me Ethan and Kristopher were "Below The Belt"... We were asked to take pictures of each other with variations of shutter speen and aperture f-stops.

we took them in four different locations, Fourth Floor, The Special Needs Area, The Ninth Floor & The Woodwork Corridoor , We took some really awful photos.
